Note (May 2000) -- This page is an archive record of NetVision's efforts. It is not being maintained, and thus many links to educational resources can be expected not to function.

The booklet Teaching With The Internet was first published by NetVision in September 1996, as part of a package of Internet training materials sent to all the schools in Maryland who were part of the state NetWeekend wiring project that took place at the end of September. Individual copies of the booklet were also mailed to all schools in the state, whether part of NetWeekend or not.

Because of its bright yellow cover, the booklet became known as the "Yellow Book".

As part of NetVision's Spring-Into-The-Net teachers-training-teachers experiment (Spring, 1997) , the Yellow Book was reissued in revised form. Much of its content was put into Web-usable format. The portions that lent themselves to Web presentation are as follows:

Frequently Asked Questions about Using the Internet and the World Wide Web

How to Find and Get To Great WWW Pages

Using Netscape Bookmarks to Organize and Manage Information

Using Search Engines on the World Wide Web and
Where to Find Search Engine Help for Composing Queries

World Wide Web Sites for Students and Teachers

Education-Related Webguides (lists of topical sites; this list was not included in the Yellow Book)

These sections have an advantage over the printed Yellow Book in that the links are active and can be clicked on.

We will endeavor to deactivate links that cease to be functional, and add new ones that come our way. Suggestions are welcomed!
