Which is better for the Web: GIF or JPEG Format??
The short answer is, whichever gives the smaller file size.
For digitized photographs, JPEG format is the best, giving
the smallest files sizes (25 Kbytes)

GIF format gives larger file size and a "grainy" image (72 Kbytes).

For computer-generated drawings, like this KidPix drawing, GIF is the best (6.4 Kbytes)

JPG format gives larger file size and shows "compression artifacts". (29 Kbytes).

How to do it:
Graphic Converter (Macintosh): File --> Save As... --> Format --> GIF or JPEG/JFIF
Paint Shop Pro (Windows): File --> Save As... --> Save as type
--> GIF - Compuserve or JPG - JPEG - JFIF compliant.
