The FYI Listserv is a way to share campus information through email with other faculty and staff of the University of Maryland. FYI is appropriate for announcements of special University of Maryland campus programs and activities of general interest to institutional faculty and staff.
Guidelines:
Instructions for signing on or signing off the FYI Listserv list are below. Those who do not wish to receive FYI notices automatically by e-mail may alternatively access notices through the um.fyi news group or through the FYI web page.
The WEB based form is mostly self explanatory. It has the following features, in order of the corresponding form items:
You have the option of submitting simultaneously for the general campus calendar.
You may view a calendar of future events already listed or to be listed on FYI at the FYI Calendar site. If changes are required on an item yet to be posted, please inform one of the individuals with approval authority listed below, through an e-mail message.
Your submission requires the approval of a representative of one of the five offices listed. You must choose the appropriate office.
You may now submit an item at any time, and specify the date on which it is to be posted. The posting date you choose must be the day after you submit your form or later.
The event title is very important and should be carefully crafted; readers will go no farther than the title if it does not grab their attention.
You have as many as 100 words for the description. Please use fewer if possible. Please omit contact and web page URL information from the description as these will be provided automatically when you fill in the corresponding boxes further on. You may cut and paste from a word processor to fill out this field.
You must choose an event type. "Other" is available as a choice.
You must specify a date and time for the event. N/A is available if necessary.
Location is also required. N/A in the "Other" box is available if necessary.
You can specify the web address of an image that will appear to viewers when using the web site option of reading your item.
There is an opportunity to provide ticketing information as appropriate.
Contact information is required, including an optional URL if available.
