Term: Full time, 12 months (1.0 FTE)
Salary: $29,000 - $32,000 annually. Includes standard Oregon University
System benefits package.

General Responsibilities:
Develop and provide educational programming related to antihomophobia
and antiheterosexism, and coordinate support services as needed for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students, faculty, and staff. Provide drop-in counseling and emergency assistance to students. Assist in the university's retention effort by developing and implementing programs that support a diverse student body in achieving academic and personal goals.
Qualifications:
Master's degree required. Knowledge of the challenges that exist in a
collegiate environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered
students, faculty, and staff. Demonstrated programming experience and
ability to translate new ideas into action. Experience in a work settingrequiring teamwork and coalition building. Experience counseling or advising undergraduate students. Strong oral and written communication skills and administrative skills.
Program History:
This program was created in 1992 in response to a campus climate report entitled, "Creating Safety, Valuing Diversity." This report called for the creation of an office to be able to coordinate issues of concern to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered members of the campus community.
Since that time, the program has grown to include a peer education
speakers bureau, a formalized incident reporting structure, annual programs and events, regularly occurring drop-in groups, a comprehensive lending library, and a campuswide safe zone program.
The program is jointly funded through the Office of Student Life and The Associated Students of the University of Oregon.

responsibilities and qualifications as stated; a resume; a one-page
answer to the question: "What are the most pressing issues facing gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students, staff, and faculty, and how would you address these issues?" and names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three professional references.
