Issues Magazine

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

ISSUES Magazine is the newest girl on the block! We're here, we're queer, and we're original with color, style and substance. We've entered the millennium with a bang: our first issue has been a huge success! You've let us know, by your response, that we are filling your need for a magazine that is for lesbians of color, by lesbians of color. Thank you!

We all have ISSUES -- matters relevant to our hearts, bodies, minds and souls. We have issues that are specific to us as women of color and as women who love women. ISSUES is a magazine that reflects positive images of us as women of African, Asian, Pacific Islander, Latin, Indian, Central, South, and Native American descent.

ISSUES satisfies our need to see our own faces, hear our own thoughts, address our own concerns. And we will address them all: the silly, the serious, the profane and the pristine with humor, intellect and sass! Your issues are our issues; our issues are ISSUES; we strive to be a reflection of you.

We're looking for the best and the brightest...writers, artists and photographers who are talented, innovative, and unique. Veteran wordsmiths as well as the previously unpublished are equally welcome. We appreciate all submissions, and have specific need for articles related to the following categories. We want to hear from you!

FEATURE LENGTH ARTICLES: 2000 - 3000 words. Submissions should be topics that are directly related to issues concerning lesbians of color.

POINT-OF-VIEW: 500 - 1000 words. Submissions are strictly your opinion only. (A disclaimer will appear with each article.) Please keep the topics limited to events or issues that concern lesbians of color.

TRAVEL: 500 - 1000 words. Submissions should focus on one location. Please include information on travel arrangements, accommodations, and possible itineraries.

FICTION: 2000 - 3000 words. Submissions may include excerpts from your book. Subject matter is solely up to you. Poetry will be accepted but may not be published in every issue.

Please include with your writing a brief bio introducing yourself and any additional ideas or suggestions you might have. We're interested in any and all viewpoints of lesbians of color!

All submissions should be sent via email to issuesmag@aol.com, or on disk to the address below. We use IBM PC compatible computers and Microsoft Word. Manually typewritten submissions are also welcomed but require a longer response time. The deadline for our upcoming issue is May 27, 2000, so start brainstorming! We want to hear your ideas!

ISSUES Magazine. Everything you are, everything we are. Let us know what you think!
