Pride Week 2000

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you a quick synopsis of the events for Pride Week 2000. Our theme is "Celebrating Multiple Minorities". Please "come out" to one or two or all of the events, they promise to be very informative.

Tuesday, March 28 7 pm Bio-Psych 1240 (aka Hoff East) "Show Me Love" ...film.....

Thursday, March 30 7pm Stamp Student Union Rec Center "Relax, It's Just Sex" ....film.....

Monday, April 3 10am to 3pm Hornbake Plaza "Live Homosexual Acts on Hornbake Plaza"

Monday April 3 4pm Grand Ballroom Lounge, Stamp Student Union "Commenting on Multiple Minorities: A Panel Discussion" Panelists will speak to the state of race and minority culture within the gay community.

Tuesday, April 4 7pm Bio-Psych 1240 (aka Hoff East) "Hit and Runaway"..film...

Wednesday, April 5 5pm Colony Ballroom, Stamp Student Union KEITH BOYKIN

"One More River To Cross: Black and Gay in America" Keith Boykin is an avid author an commentor on race and LGBT issues. He is a former aid to President Clinton, and former Executive Director of the National Black Gay and Lesbian Leadership Forum. Earlier this year, Keith spoke at UCLA while just across the street Rev. Fred Phelps of anti-gay fame protested National Coming Out Day activities. PLEASE Join us! Reception and book signing to follow.

Thursday, April 6 4pm 0123 Hornbake Library "Pros and Cons: The Millennium March on Washington" The MMOW has received MUCH criticism in the past few months for its neglect of representation for people of color, and being a "top down" effort. To better education the UMCP community about the issues behind this march, representatives from the march and from non-supportive organizations will discuss postive and negative issues of this event (MMOW April 30, 2000).Thursday, April 6 7pm Stamp Student Union Rec Center, "Living With Pride" The story of Ruth Ellis, a 100 year old Black lesbian activist....film....
