    Evaluating Native American Resources

    Check for:
  • Relevancy. Does it depict normal people as wothwhile.
  • Authenticity. Is it real or new age?
  • Racist Stereotypes. Broken English? Women as drudges? Men as warriors? Beads? Feathers? Leather? Head dresses? Cultural inferiority? If they have these - then toss it in the proverbial round file.
  • Language. What language is it written in and for whom?
  • Historical Accuracy. Can you find supporting documentation to judge its accuracy?
  • Fairness. Is is politically fair?
