About ECCSF

In 1972, the East Coast Chicana/o Student Forum was founded as a result of a
yearly gathering at Yale University known as Pachanga. This gathering, back
then, was simply a time for Chicana/o students mostly from the Southwest to
together over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Forum has since grown to be a
dynamic social, cultural, and political organization that includes Latinos
fromall over the United States who are attending East Coast schools.

The East Coast Chicana/o Student Forum affirms the importance of La Raza, the
greatness of our heritage, our history, our language, our traditions, our
culture, and the countless contributions made to humanity by our gente. We
havedemonstrated, proven and again affirm our loyalty to La Causa and to our
cultural traditions.

We accept the framework within which we may establish and operate our own
independent organizations in pursuit of justice, equality, and redress of
grievances and inequities. The forum pledges to support all our courageous
people organizing in the fields, in the barrios, in the work force, and in the
schools. We commit ourselves to the organizing and leadership of La Raza, to
nuestras familias, to nuestras comunidades, and to the struggle for equality
all people.
