Subject: Here I jam. Hola mi raza. Here's an update with the Raza Militant Minutes: For all you Homeboys out there missing the boomp boomp! of loud speakers and the bouncing of the hydraulics miren eses! Ya llego The Lowrider page. ORALE VATOS Y RUCAS! El Andar is a Latino oriented magazine with lotsa flair and excellent design. Have a peep at 'em. Santa Cruz Barrios Unidos is a California Latino Youth organization that attempts to give young cholos an alternative to gang life. And we finally got some hermanas en las universidades so have a look at Si gma Lambda Upsilon, Sen~oritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. Lots of people have been mailing me looking for any and all information regarding on line research regarding Latinos/Hispanics and Technology/Cyberspace. To that End I will begin compiling a list of this type of information as I come across it. So far I've gotten A bilingual education resource list put out by La Estrellita, a program that teaches Spanish to Spanish speakers at http://www.estrellita.com/~karenm/bil.html The Alliance for Public Technology, while not directly "latino" is concerned that "universal access" to technology means only people who can afford it will actually have access. They keep tabs on legislation to bridge that gap at http://apt.org/apt/index.html Kevin Lee Thomason, J.D. has written a paper titled "The Binary Split: Race and Technology at the End of the 20th Century" which address firstly how there is a chasm between ethnicities, and secondly what effects technology will have on this rift. "Latinos and the Info Super Highway" is a paper by Anne Larson and Anthony Wilhelm that address exactly what the tile suggests and can be perused at http://www.cgs.edu/inst/trc_super1.html If in your research you need to use terms that really don't exist, you might have a look at fellow Longhorn (dios mio we keep busy out here) Yolanda Rivas' Computer Spanglish diccionario at http://www.actlab.utexas.edu/~seagull/spanglist.html and dont pass up here home page at http://www.actlab.utexas.edu/~seagull/index.html cuz she has other research interests that we might could help her with. So, Link 'em if you got em. Odd. I've been getting Hispanic magazine for free (2 issues). I called their subscriptions dept and they said I was listed as "Complimentary". Wonder where the compliment is. __________________________________________________________ Felipe Campos aka EgOiStE on Internet Relay Chat.
