CONGRESSIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS FOUNDATION

TITLE: CONGRESSIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS FOUNDATION

SPONSOR: Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF)
PURPOSE: To encourage young adults to pursue a career in public service, as well as enhance their political education.
DEADLINE: May 1 (Fall)
SUMMARY: Since its establishment in 1986, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundations Congressional Internship Program provides an intensive paid internship which brings college students to Capitol Hill for an in-depth orientation to the legislative process.

Following an in-depth orientation on the legislative and administrative procedures of the United States Congress, students begin their internship assignments with Congressional Black Caucus Members. Interns gain valuable experience in the legislative process through their office assignments. These assignments range from drafting correspondence and responding to constituent inquiries, to performing routine duties essential to Congressional operation.

Summer Term
The 2000 CBCF Congressional Internship Program Summer Term will begin on May 30, 2000 and end July 28, 2000.

Summer intern assignments are generally equivalent to full-time employment, with a 40-hour week being the basic requirement.
