Women and Gender A Directory of Scholars, Teachers, and Resources at the University of Maryland, College Park 1990 Editors: Betty H. Day Deborah S. Rosenfelt Women's Studies Bibliographer Director UMCP Libraries Curriculum Transformation Introduction This is the first edition of Women and Gender: A Directory of Scholars, Teachers, and Resources at the University of Maryland. College Park. We hope that it will facilitate communication and encourage community among faculty, students, and staff interested in scholarship on women and gender and concerned about women's issues. The Directory also informs other educational institutions and other organizations in the Greater Washington area about the impressive array of individuals and resources at the College Park campus. The Directory is divided into three sections: (1) campus resources for women, a list of offices and organizations especially oriented to the interests and needs of women faculty, students, and staff; (2) an alphabetical listing of faculty whose research and teaching addresses women and gender; and (3) an index of those same scholars by field. The listing of scholars includes only those publications, courses, and community activities that focus centrally on women or gender. We could not include the many entries from faculty for publications and courses which incorporate women's issues but focus on other subjects. Perhaps we will be able to do so in future editions of the Directory; certainly we were heartened by the extent of such curricular integration. We are grateful to all the members of the campus community who took time from their busy lives to provide us the information included here, and we regret the inevitable editorial errors. These entries now form a database which will make it easy to update the information in future editions. We hope you find this first edition of Women and Gender a valuable resource. Betty H.
