The Board of Regents of the University of Maryland established the Human Relations Code to resolve complaints of discrimination at the University of Maryland, College Park. Under the Code, discrimination is prohibited in:

  • Employment, job placement, promotion, or other economic benenfits or
  • Criteria of eligibility for access to residence, or for admission to educational, athletic, social, cultural, or other activities to the campus.

The Code applies to the entire campus community, including students, faculty, staff, departments, committees, offices and organizations under the supervision and control of the campus administration. Discrimination is prohibited on the basis of:

Race, Color, Creed, Sex (including sexual harassment), Sexual Orientation, Marital Status, Personal Appearance, Age, National Origin, Political Affiliation, and/or The exercise of rights secured by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
