The March for Hope and Remembrance brings together an international group of college and university students from around the world, who represent a wide variety of racial, ethnic, linguistic, and religious backgrounds, to learn about individual prejudice and institutionalized discrimination through study of the Holocaust. The March includes a visit to actual Holocaust sites in Poland where Nazi atrocities were committed. Participation in the March enables students to connect—physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually—with the enormity of anguish that hatred causes. The March transforms the way in which students view and relate to people from cultural backgrounds different from their own by providing powerful incentives for multicultural community building. OHRP is Maryland’s campus coordinator for the March. Several students from Maryland have been awarded scholarships to participate.
