Eugene Robinson

EUGENE ROBINSON, a filmmaker, screenplay writer, and translator, received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Maryland. He was a member of the first panel of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health. He has also been an Adjunct Professor at Gallaudet University. A contributor to The State of Black America and The Black Film Review, he has written scripts for two documentary films, “Threads: Malkia Roberts, Artist and The Class of '52,” and scripted and produced the film “Tar Baby.” His major areas of interest are films of revolution and social change, Third World cinema, Gypsy Culture, electronic advertising, and media culture. He is currently engaged in research on a book on Gypsy culture, Completed the editing of a book on XML, and begun work on another book on Roman spectra.  He has just completed work as a peer reviewer for the Humanities adapting curricula to the World Wide Web.  Robinson has twice been honored as outstanding teacher and was Director of Undergraduate Studies (1996-97).
